Inspired by Gary James McQueen’s acclaimed Midas collection, this silk twill foulard reimagines the legend of King Midas through the language of contemporary luxury. More than an accessory, it is a wearable artwork. Every fold revealing a new detail, ensuring the narrative evolves each time it is worn.
Measuring 90 x 90 cm, the scarf has hand-rolled hems and is released in three limited edition colourways: Ivory, Red and Teal. Each embodies McQueen's distinctive visual language, where mythology, nature and transformation meet exceptional craftsmanship. Supplied in a luxury black gift box with foil logo and wrapped in black tissue paper.
The design. The myth tells of a king granted the power to transform everything he touches into gold. McQueen’s artwork is a meditation on ambition, creativity and the relationship between humanity and nature. Here, gold does not consume life - it grows from it. At the centre of the design is a sculptural skull, a recurring symbol within McQueen’s work. Delicate botanicals gradually envelop the skull, as butterflies symbolise metamorphosis and the continual evolution of the human spirit. An intricate baroque border frames the piece, creating a dialogue between history and modern craftsmanship.
The craft. This foulard is produced using traditional methods, woven from luxurious 100% silk twill and finished entirely by hand with rolled hems. Every stage of production has been selected to honour the heritage of silk craftsmanship while faithfully reproducing the extraordinary depth, colour and intricate detailing of Gary James McQueen's original artworks. Balancing artisanal techniques with cutting-edge digital design, the collection reflects McQueen's longstanding belief that innovation should enhance craftsmanship rather than replace it.
